1. Review General Rules.
2. The OPEN & 4-H Dog Show are scheduled to be held at different times. Show will be held on the Expo Grounds at the National Guard Armory building. See Schedule of Events for Show times.
3. Entry forms must be filled out and turned in to Show Superintendent, No later that 14 days prior to show.
4. Dogs can be at the fairgrounds only during time of show.
5. Proof of rabies vaccination signed by a licensed, accredited veterinarian, must accompany entry form. DHL, Parvovirus, and Bordetella vaccinations are strongly recommended.
6. To be eligible to show at the Barton County 4-H dog show, 4-Hers and their dogs must have been enrolled in the dog project by February 1st of the current year and attend a minimum of 8 of the Barton County 4-H dog project meetings offered.
7. 4-Hers are responsible for cleaning up after their own dogs with a vinegar/water solution.
8. Each exhibitor may enter one dog in Showmanship. Multiple dogs may be entered into obedience, provided that they are in different classes.
9. Age of handler determines showmanship class. 4-Hers that have scored 170 points or more at Two different shows must advance to the next obedience level at the beginning of the next 4-H year.
10. Any breed or mixed breed of dog is eligible to compete if it is trained by the 4-Her and is owned or co-owned by the 4-H handler or their immediate family. A dog with an AKC degree is not eligible for the class is which the degree was earned.
11. Any dog that is overly aggressive or potentially dangerous to people or other dogs will be removed from the grounds and disqualified. No dog in season will be allowed to show and must be removed from the grounds immediately.
12. Any abuse of dogs on the grounds or in the ring will result in disqualification.
13. Additional information regarding rules can be found in 4-H Publication S-46, the latest print “ Kansas 4-H Dog Show Rule Book”.

OBEDIENCE COMPETITION

1801 - Pre-Novice A 1st year handler /1st year dog
1802 - Pre-Novice B Experienced Team
160 points possible (all exercises on leash), 35 heel on leash and figure 8, 30 stand for examination, 35 recall, 30 long sits (1 min.), 30 long downs (3 min.)

1803 - Novice A 1st year handler / 1st year dog
1804 - Novice B Experienced Team
200 points possible, 35 heel on leash and figure 8, 30 stand for examination (off leash), 45 heel free, 30 recall of leash, 30 long sit off leash (1 min.), 30 long down off leash (3 min.)

4-Her MUST HAVE QUALIFIED IN PRIOR YEARS
TO ENTER THE FOLLOWING:

1805 - Graduate Novice. 200 points possible, 35 heel on leash, 30 stand for examination (off leash), 45 heel free and figure 8, 30 drop on recall, 30 long sit (handler out of sight 3 min.), 30 long down (handler out of sight 5 min.)
1806 - Open A
1807 - Open B
1808 - Utility A
1809 - Utility B

SHOWMANSHIP

1810 - Showmanship Pre Junior (up to 9 yrs)
1811 - Showmanship Junior (ages 10-11 yrs)
1812 - Showmanship Intermediate (ages 12-14 yrs)
1813 - Showmanship Senior (ages 15-18 yrs)

Agility Competition

1816 - Level I Agility Class
(Small dog under 15” at withers)
1817 - Level I Agility Class
(Medium dog 15-20” at withers)
1818 - Level I Agility Class
(Large dog over 20” at withers)
1819 - Level II Agility Class
(Small dog under 15” at withers)
1820 - Level II Agility Class
(Medium dog 15-20” at withers)
1821 - Level II Agility Class
(Large dog over 20” at withers)

Awards will be given at the 4-H Showcase Awards Ceremony
at the Aaron's Repair Arena in Expo III
