HORSE 1. Review General Rules HORSELESS HORSE This project is not designated for members who want to show horses. In order to show at Dist. or State 4-H Shows, you must enroll in the regular horse project, see rule 5. In this county we allow H.H. 4-Hers to ride & enter any regular class, just add H.H. to your class numbers. HALTER CLASSESEach horse can be entered and shown in ONE halter class SHOWMANSHIPOpen to 4-Hers in Horse and Horsemanship. TWO YEAR OLD SNAFFLE BIT Included with the nomination form should be a horse ID certificate and $10.00. Deadline for ID’s is May 1. Deadline for district horse show entries is June 1. WALK-TROT ENGLISH PLEASURE These classes are designed for the very inexperienced rider. Classes are limited to riders who have never shown in a canter class. Classes shall be judged 30% on the rider and 70% on the horse. Horses will walk; trot both directions on the rail, back individually at judge's discretion. ENGLISH PLEASURE1515 - English Pleasure, 14 yrs. and over 1518 - W/T English Equitation, 14 yrs. and over ENGLISH EQUITATION 1521 - English Equitation, 14 yrs. and over WALK TROT WESTERN PLEASURE(Horse Rider Combination cannot be shown in any class that call for a lope) WESTERN PLEASURE 4-Hers can show in Stock type (S) or Non-Stock type (NS), but not both. WALK TROT WESTERN HORSEMANSHIP (Cannot show in regular Horsemanship class) WESTERN HORSEMANSHIP1536 - Western Horsemanship, 14 yrs. and over PLEASURE PAIRS 1539 - Pleasure Pairs, all ages TRAIL1540 - Trail, 14 yrs. and over REINING1543 - Reining, 14 yrs. and over LEAD BACK 110 yards is the approximately course length. Each contestant lines up at the starting line. Horse and rider must race across given line at other end of arena, dismount and lead horse back. Rider must cross finish line ahead of horse with reins in his hands. 7 foot is the maximum length allowed for reins. All contestants must wear cowboy boots. In the lead back race the rider can have a strap or lead rope or rein attached where the riding reins are attached. Fastest time wins. POLE BENDING1549 - Pole Bending, 14 yrs. and over KEY RACE 165 feet is the regulation distance. Two pole bending stakes are placed on the turning line 5 feet apart. Between the starting line and the turning line there are two more stakes 10 feet out and 5 feet apart. These poles are in line with the stakes on the turning line. Contestant is mounted at the starting line. At signal races between stakes across the turning line, turns and reverses course back between the stakes to finish line. Contestant will be disqualified if he fails course by weaving in and out of poles or touches a pole with a hand. A 5 second penalty will be assessed for each pole knocked over. BARREL RACING 1555 - Barrel Racing, 14 yrs. and over HIGH POINT AWARDS WILL BE PRESENTED IN EACH AGE GROUP | |
