Ag Mechanics
Lot I


     The purpose of the Barton County Fair Ag Mechanics contest is to stimulate interest in Agriculture and other areas. Students enrolled in Agricultural Education, FFA Members and adults engaged in farming or related Agribusiness activities are encouraged to participate in this contest.
1. Projects will be judged based on workmanship, quality, welding skills, techniques, finish and the project’s ability to function.
2. The Barton County Fair, and its members will not be responsible for loss or damage to projects exhibited.
3. All entries must have been constructed, repaired and exhibited with the past two years. The project cannot have previously been exhibited at the Kansas State Fair and the Barton County Fair. Painting or spot painting is not allowed on projects after arrival on the fairgrounds.
4. Displays will be limited to Kansas residents.
5. All entries should be in place by 8-12 a.m., Wednesday, July 09. Participants must check in at the Expo I Office before unloading. All large exhibits will be outdoors. Please prepare your exhibits accordingly.
6. A description of the project, limited to one 8 ½ X 11 page; bill of materials, including all purchased items; list of skills and safety features performed; and entry card will be required and should be covered with plastic and attached to the entry. Pictures are encouraged but are not required. Information revealing chapter, school, or individual identification, (including county of residence), should be included.
7. A chapter sign is requested. Chapter and exhibitor signs displayed are recommended to be portable.
8. Results will be posted.
9. There is no limit at to the number of projects a chapter or individual may enter.
10. Class 703Y and 703A, Machinery Repair and Tractor Refinishing, may be field tillage, planting, harvesting or chemical application equipment; livestock and/or crops handling equipment or farm tractors.
11. Each class, in youth and adult divisions, will be awarded a placing to the top three projects. Ribbons to these top-placing projects will be awarded. The Barton County Fair Association will pay cash awards.

701 A - Intermediate Machinery and Equipment

(more than $250 construction cost)
702 A – Large Machinery and Equipment
more than $250 construction cost)
703 Y – Machinery Repair and Tractor Refinishing.
703 A – Machinery Repair and Tractor Refinishing.

*1st Place $25, 2nd Place $15, 3rd Place $10
awarded to all classes above.
