Entry Fee: $5.00 per Entry

1. The OPEN & 4-H Dog Show are scheduled to be held at different times Friday, July 7. Show will be held on the Expo Grounds at the National Guard Armory building. See Schedule of Events for Show times.
2. Read Open Class Rules, Classes judged by KS 4-H Dog Show Guidelines. (Booklets available from
K-State Extension Office.)
3. Entry forms must be filled out and turned in to the Barton County Fair Association P.O. Box 233 Great Bend, KS 67530 no later than June 30. Make checks payable to: Barton County Fair Association. NO REFUNDS! Open Class entry fees are to accompany entry forms. Rabies certificate must accompany entry forms and fees. DHL, current Parvo-virus and Bordetella vaccinations are strongly recommended.
4. Only participating dogs can be at the expo grounds during time of show.
5. This is a state fair qualifying show for 4-Hers enrolled in Dog Projects.
6. Each exhibitor may enter one dog in Showmanship. An exhibitor may enter more than one dog in Obedience, provided that the dogs are entered in different obedience classes. Each dog may be entered in only one obedience class.
7. A show lead is needed for showmanship. A chain collar or soft training collar and a six-foot lead are required for obedience. No chain leads.
8. Any breed or mixed breed of dog is eligible to compete if it is owned or co-owned by the handler and his/her immediate family.
9. A dog with an AKC obedience degree is disqualified from entering the class for which the degree was rewarded.
10. Any abuse of dogs on the grounds or in the ring will result in disqualification.
11. No dog in season will be allowed to show and must be removed from the show arena grounds immediately.
12. Any dog that is overly aggressive or potentially dangerous to people or other dogs will be disqualified.
13. Any dog with a contagious, communicable or infectious disease or condition, in the judgment of the show committee, cannot be shown; It must be removed from the show arena grounds immediately. This includes warts, ringworm, lice and mange.
14. Any dog fouling the ring will automatically receive a score of zero in the Open Classes. Owner is responsible for cleaning up after their dog. All fouling must be disinfected with Clorox solution. Outdoor fouling must be picked up and disposed of properly.
15. Good sportsmanship shall be observed at all times. The judge’s decision is final. Poor sportsmanship may lead to loss of ribbon, class dismissal or disqualification from show determined by judge and show committee. Any protest should be made in writing to the committee.
16. Limited crating area.
17. Awards: There are no premiums for Open Classes. All awards will be presented at the Awards Ceremony after each class. Number of entries to be judged determines length of show.

OBEDIENCE COMPETITION

801 – PRE-NOVICE A – 1st year handler /1st year dog
802 – PRE-NOVICE B – Experienced Team
160 POINTS POSSIBLE (on leash), 35 heel on leash & figure 8, 30 stand for examination, 35 recall, 30 long sit (1 min.), 30 long down (3 min.).
803 – NOVICE A – 1st year handler / 1st year dog
804 – NOVICE B – Experienced Team
200 POINTS POSSIBLE, 35 heel on leash & figure 8, 30 stand for examination (off leash), 45 heel (off leash), 30 recall (off leash), 30 long sit (off leash) (1 min.), 30 long down (off leash) (1 min.).
805 – GRADUATE NOVICE
200 POINTS POSSIBLE, 35 heel on leash, 30 stand for examination (off leash), 45 heel free and figure 8, 30 drop on recall, 30 long sit (handler out of sight 3 min.), 30 long down (handler out of sight 5 min.).
806 – Open A
807 – Open B
808 – Utility A
809 – Utility B

SHOWMANSHIP COMPETITION

810 – Showmanship Pre Jr. Showman (age to 9 yrs.)
811 – Showmanship Junior (ages 10-11 yrs)
812 – Showmanship Intermediate (ages 12-14 yrs.)
813 – Showmanship Senior (ages 15-18 yrs.)
814 – Showmanship Adult (ages 18 & up)
815 – Costume Class (Doggie Dress-Up)

AGILITY COMPETITION

816 - Level I Agility Class (Small dog under 15” at withers)
817 - Level I Agility Class (Medium dog 15-20” at withers)
818 - Level I Agility Class (Large dog over 20” at withers)
819 - Level II Agility Class (Small dog under 15” at withers)
820 - Level II Agility Class (Medium dog 15-20” at withers)
821 - Level II Agility Class (Large dog over 20” at withers)
